Fisheries Information System

(FIS)

The Fisheries Information System (FIS) was created to give Ministry of Fisheries staff access to the information from fisheries databases that they most commonly require. It consists of a number of search windows and a Reporting Tool. All Ministry of Fisheries staff have access to FIS. 

The FIS application is still under development. Additional datasets are being introduced into FIS as they become available to MFish. 

Following search windows are now available:

• Fishing Method 
• Fishstock 
• Marine Farms
• Person/Organisation 
• Product State 
• Species Information 
• Vessel Information 
• Reporting Tool (including Catch Effort data extracts)
• Abbreviations

The Reporting Tool is capable of extracting detailed information in "data" reports, and also of providing aggregated information (totals, averages, minimum's, etc.) in "summary" reports.

Relevant Information Interpretation System issues appear automatically when running Catch Effort reports from the FIS Reporting Tool.

The Reporting Tool is still under development and there are a limited number of reports available. It will be still necessary to contact the reporting group for many queries.
