Description of data collection system |
Kaitiaki are required to report to the Ministry of Fisheries the quantities of fish of different species authorised or taken for customary purposes. The data provided by each kaitiaki is the aggregate catch for each quarter in each fishstock. |
Purpose of data collection |
To assess the customary catch for sustainability purposes and to ensure that a suitable allowance can be made when setting TACCs. |
