Valid codes - In numerous places on Catch Effort forms fishers are asked to report their activities using codes. This is a list of those codes. 

Quota Management Areas Maps - For each species managed under New Zealand's quota management system, the exclusive economic zone has been divided into between 1 and 10 QMAs. These are used, in the landing part of Catch Effort forms, to record where such fish were caught. QMAs are always species specific.

Fisheries Management Areas Map - For each species not managed under New Zealand's quota management system, the exclusive economic zone has been divided into 10 FMAs. These are used, in the landing part of Catch Effort forms, to record where such fish were caught. 

Statistical Areas Maps - For all species, New Zealand's exclusive economic zone has been divided in to a number of statistical areas. These are used, in the estimated catch part of Catch Effort forms, to record where fish were caught. Statistical areas are considerably smaller than either QMAs or FMAs. In some cases statistical areas are species specific.
